Velvet pumpkins are everywhere for the Fall! While I love a good trend, I love trendy things on a budget. At all of the craft and home stores bigger velvet pumpkins are running anywhere from $10-$15! I made a lot of different sizes and colors for this project for around $1 a pumpkin! Here is everything you need to do your own velvet pumpkin DIY!
What you need:
Velvet or stretchy fabric
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Finger Protectors
Hair Bands or small rubber bands
Poly fil
Paper Bags for stem or stem of your choice
What to do:
Decide how much fabric you want to use to cover your pumpkin!
Fold your fabric length wise and run a bead of glue along the open edge and press the top fabric on top of the glue! Once your glue is dry gather the fabric at one of the open endings and tie it securely with you hair tie. Do this close to the end and as tight as you can.
Turn the fabric right side out and puff out the bottom! Add your poly fil, you can do any amount that you want you can make it as full as you want!
Once you get it filled gather the open edge and put your hair tie tightly around that end to secure it.
I added a paper bag stem! Cut the extra fabric right after the rubber band so you don’t have extra fabric! I painted all of my stems gold! Add your flat piece with hot glue to create the beginning of the stem and to cover up the hair tie. Then hot glue the rest of the stem to the flat piece and let dry!
You can refer to the video at the bottom for fabric lengths and for more stem ideas!
