How to Paint Buffalo Check

The buffalo check pattern is so popular for Fall! I use it in a lot of my door hangers but you could really paint this pattern on anything! For the purpose of this tutorial I used a wooden pumpkin from the dollar tree and painted both sides a base coat with white paint! Here are all of the steps and a video to show you how to do this yourself!

What you need:

For this I used a pumpkin from the dollar tree
Paint Brush

What to do:

Paint your wood a base color, I painted mine white. Let it dry.
Take a ruler and a pencil and make horizontal and vertical stripes to create your plaid pattern.
Decide what stripes you’re going to paint and mark them so you don’t lose the pattern.
Paint your stripes. I used pewter gray. Use long brush strokes and let it dry.
Add black paint to your pewter paint and mix. Paint the squares where the lines intersect and this will create the buffalo check look. I did two coats.
I went in and embellished after everything was dry with accent lines in the middle and on the stem!
