I’ve been receiving stitch fix boxes once a month since last spring and I LOVE it! I have to be in the right mood to go shopping but with a new outfit arriving at your door every month…who can complain? When you first start receiving your boxes it sometimes takes a few times for your stylist to get to know you and send you 5 things that you love but just be patient, I promise its worth it! Telling your stylist what you like out of your boxes and pinning things that match your style on Pinterest for your stylists to see is the key to being happy with what comes next in your box. If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix and how it works, here’s the breakdown of the process!
1. You start by filling out a style profile – you will answer questions about sizing, pricing, colors, etc. You can also write notes about your likes/dislikes. If you have a Pinterest, you can link your fashion boards so your stylist can find out more about what you like.
2. Order your fix! You will be charged a $20 styling fee, however, if you keep any item you will be credited back the $20. You should always keep at least one item in your box (so you don’t lose the $20). You will receive 5 items each time usually made up of clothing, jewelry and shoes. I personally don’t want jewelry in my fix so I just always let my stylist know so I can limit my box to clothes and shoes!
3. Decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back (they give you a prepaid envelope)! You have 3 business days to send it back so use the time to try everything on and see what you have in your closet that pairs well with it. Don’t be afraid to say yes to something that you wouldn’t normally. A lot of times I get something in the box that I think I’ll hate but then I try it on and end up falling in love with it! That’s what makes it so fun! If you keep all 5 items you will receive 25% off your entire fix!
My regular stylist is out on maternity leave so I was excited to see what I got in my August box since I knew I was going to have a different person pick my items out this time!
First up is the Nichelle Knit Maxi Dress from the brand French Gray. I love a good maxi dress but the print looked similar to maxi dresses that I already have! Since this dress was $54 I decided to pass since it looked like some of my other dresses.
Next was the Klare Chambray Tank Top from Your Story. Denim is so on trend and I loved the fit of this top! I can wear it in the summer and carry it into the fall with a cute cardigan! This top was only $34 so this one was a keeper.
Next was the Katie Sheer Kimono from Renee C. I wasn’t a fan of this when I took it out of the box and when I tried it on I realized I really disliked the print. It would be really hard to wear with different outfits and with a $44 price tag I decided to send this kimono back.
Next were the Brooks Cargo Skinny Pant from Cosmic Blue Love for $88. I usually love all of the pants and denim that Stitch Fix sends me but these missed the mark. The pockets weren’t flattering and I wasn’t a fan of the light green color so these also went back.
Last, was the Golda Faux Wrap Midi Skirt from 41 Hawthorn for $58. I had very high hopes for this skirt because I really liked the floral print but the wrap and ruffle detail just made me look like I was on an episode of Little House on the Prairie.
Overall this wasn’t the greatest stitch fix box I have ever received but in my year of doing this subscription…one bad box isn’t bad. I also didn’t give any notes with this box so they didn’t have a lot to go on. I only ended up keeping the chambray shirt, I’m so excited to wear it with a ton of different outfits! See y’all next month for the new September box!
